How It Works & FAQ
How do I design my ring?
Pick a shape from the built-in library using the shape picker, or upload your own SVG file. The designer will tile your chosen shape around the outside of the ring. Use the 3D Preview tab to see exactly how it will look on a real ring.
How do I upload my own design?
Click "Import SVG as Custom Shape" in the Shapes section. Select an SVG file from your device — the designer will convert it into a usable shape automatically. For best results, use a simple black silhouette on a white or transparent background. Designs with very fine detail may produce thin lines — see below for tips on handling those.
What do the sliders and settings do?
Shape Size controls the height of each shape on the band (in mm). Wider shapes grow outward proportionally. Ring Size sets the inner diameter. Band Width sets how tall the ring is. Safe Margin adds a buffer at the top and bottom edges so shapes don't run off the band. Rotation and Vertical Offset let you fine-tune each shape's angle and position on the band.
What are the placement modes?
Count places an exact number of shapes evenly around the ring. Autofit calculates the best fit based on your shape size and gap setting. Grid fills the entire band in rows and columns — great for all-over patterns. You can also switch to a Sine Wave path to arrange shapes along a wave instead of a straight line.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing is based on the total engraving area — the amount of surface (in square millimeters) that the laser actually engraves on the ring. More shapes, larger shapes, or tighter spacing means more engraving area and a higher price. The price updates in real time as you adjust your design, so you always know the cost before purchasing.
Can I lower the price of my design?
Yes. Use fewer shapes, reduce the shape size, or increase the gap between shapes. Switching from Grid mode to Count or Autofit can also reduce the total engraving area. The price updates instantly as you make changes.
What if the price shows "Quote"?
Designs with a very large engraving area exceed our standard pricing and require a custom quote. Just reach out to us with your design and we'll work with you on pricing.
Can I save or share my design?
Yes — click "Share with Community" to post your design to the community feed below the designer. Others can browse it, load it, customize it, and purchase their own version. Your most recent design is also auto-saved in your browser so you can come back to it later.
Does ring size affect the price?
In Count and Autofit modes, shapes scale with the ring so the engraving area stays the same regardless of size. In Grid mode, a larger ring fits more shapes, which increases the engraving area and price.
What about thin lines in the design?
Some designs — including pre-loaded shapes — can produce very thin engraved lines, especially at smaller sizes. These lines can be filled with powdered inlay material or colored UV resin. Resin fills flush with the surface, while powdered inlay works best when you leave a little space above for a solid finish layer. If thin lines are a concern, increase the shape size to make the design as large as possible — larger shapes produce thicker, more defined lines.
